Change audio pitch and speed online

Slow a recording down to follow a passage, speed it up for a shorter listen, or shift its pitch. Clear MP3 has separate speed and pitch sliders, so you can change one without intentionally changing the other. Listen to adjustments before saving an MP3.

Hear your changes as you listen

1. Upload your audio or video file, or paste a YouTube URL for content you own or have permission to download. Choose Convert to MP3.
2. When the editor appears, press Play once to start the audio preview.
3. Move Speed to slow down or speed up playback. The available range is 0.5× to 2×, in 0.05× steps.
4. Move Pitch to make the sound higher or lower. The range is −12 to +12 semitones, in 0.5-semitone steps.
5. Choose Download MP3 when you like the result. There is no Apply Changes button between preview adjustments. The final download can take a moment to prepare.

Pitch and speed do different things

Speed changes how long the recording takes to play. At 0.5×, a 30-second clip takes about a minute; at 2×, it takes about 15 seconds. Keep Pitch at 0 if you want to change the pace while preserving the original pitch.

Pitch changes how high or low the sound is. A +12-semitone shift is one octave up; −12 is one octave down. Keep Speed at 1× if you want to shift pitch without intentionally changing duration. Half-semitone steps let you make smaller adjustments than whole-semitone controls.

Start with small adjustments

Try 0.9× or 1.1× speed first, or shift pitch by 0.5 to 2 semitones. Larger shifts can sound more artificial, especially on voices and complex music. Listen to several parts of the recording before exporting. Reset returns speed, pitch, and the trim selection to their defaults.

You can trim your audio in the same editor. Edits reuse the original audio during the session, rather than repeatedly modifying the last exported MP3. If you move a slider while a download is preparing, that download still uses the settings you selected when you clicked.

Before you download

Sources are limited to 30 minutes, with a 50 MB limit for uploads. Exports are 192 kbps MP3 files. Save the result within 10 minutes, before the temporary session expires. No signup, ads, or pop-ups are required.
